Craig Mawdsley
FOUNDING PARTNER
Craig has extensive commercial and legal experience as both an operator and advisor, working in regulated investment funds, banks, and insurance companies, as well as in technology-driven early-stage venture investing.
Before founding Altered Capital, Craig launched and co-led the Private Investments division of MGFO, actively managing more than US$2 billion with a focus on venture capital. Prior to this role, he managed legal risk and deal structuring for both MGFO and quantitative trading firm QuantRes Asset Management.
Craig holds an LLB (First Class Honours) and a BSocSc (Psychology) from the University of Waikato.

Finn Templeton
INVESTMENT DIRECTOR
Finn is an Investment Director, responsible for meeting with founders, making investment decisions, and partnering with portfolio companies.
Finn spent several years as an operator in London at Clearpay, gaining valuable scale-up and fintech experience. Prior to Clearpay he worked in investment banking.
Finn has a BCom (Finance & Economics) from the University of Otago, and an MCom (Finance, First Class) from the University of Auckland.

Heath Milne
INVESTMENT MANAGER
Heath is an Investment Manager at Altered Capital, with end-to-end responsibility in the execution of investment opportunities within the private equity team.
Prior to joining Altered Capital, Heath gained valuable experience leading the M&A and capital markets team at Oceania Healthcare and before that, in the investment banking team at Jarden.
Heath has a BCom (Finance and Accounting) from the University of Auckland.

Laura Manson
INVESTMENT DIRECTOR
Laura is an Investment Director at Altered Capital, committed to partnering with best-in-class founders and companies to unlock their growth potential. Laura brings a unique combination of investment banking, corporate strategy and private equity experience.
She is responsible for identifying and evaluating high-potential investment opportunities that align with Altered Capital’s values and investment thesis, as well as supporting portfolio companies on their growth journeys.
Laura has an LLB (First Class Honours) and a BCom (Finance) from the University of Otago, and is also a CFA charterholder.

Marcus Traill
FOUNDING PARTNER
Marcus is laser-focused on product and has deep experience investing in early-stage venture capital, particularly in fintech and healthtech, which complements his commercial experience as an operator. He currently serves on the boards of Starling Bank and Health Data Analytics Institute.
Before founding Altered Capital, Marcus launched and co-led the Private Investments division of MGFO, actively managing more than US$2 billion with a focus on venture capital. Prior to this role, he led commercial operations for the quantitative trading firm QuantRes Asset Management.
Marcus holds an LLB (First Class Honours) and a BMS (Finance, First Class Honours) from the University of Waikato, and is also a CFA charterholder.

Mark Ashley
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Mark is responsible for financial management, compliance and risk management, operational strategy, as well as investor and portfolio relationships.
Prior to Altered Capital, Mark headed up the finance team at Crimson Education for several years navigating a period of high growth, capital raises, and international expansion.
Mark is a Chartered Accountant and has a BCom (Accounting) from the University of Otago.

McGregor Fea
MANAGING PARTNER
McGregor has active Director, Observer, and advisory roles in our portfolio companies, with particular specialities in fintech, financial services, and healthcare companies.
Prior to founding Altered Capital with Marcus and Craig, McGregor was a Partner in venture capital at MGFO in London, and worked at Jarden in New Zealand across the group's investment banking, principal investments, and direct investment functions.
McGregor has an MBus (Finance, with Distinction) from the University of Otago.

Sam Rapson
PARTNER
Sam brings investment banking and operating experience to the Altered Capital team.
Sam spent nine years with Goldman Sachs working on capital raising, IPOs, strategic reviews and sell-side transactions in a wide range of sectors. Prior to joining Altered Capital, Sam was General Manager of Fletcher Living for seven years. During this period the business achieved significant earnings growth, a 5x reduction in injury rates and consistently achieved high employee engagement and customer net promoter scores.
Sam has a BCom (First Class Honours) in Finance & Economics from the University of Auckland.

Stuart Inglis, Ph.D.
OPERATING PARTNER
Stuart uses his deep expertise to advise on technical due diligence and to provide ongoing support to portfolio company management teams.
Stuart has been the CTO, founder, and investor of a number of tech companies, based both in the USA and NZ. He has on the ground experience with SaaS companies, cloud scale production environments, intellectual property/patents, Agile methodologies and testing. He has lead engineering teams and has been involved with many M&A/investment transactions.
Stuart is on the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences Industry Advisory Board for Waikato University, and holds a Bachelors degree in Math and Computer Science with First Class Honours, a Post Graduate Diploma of Management Studies and a Ph.D, all from the University of Waikato.
